Peel 5-6 potatoes and cut into the size of matches and then put
them into
cold water to get the starch away. Cut two yellow onions in slices and
fry them slowly
in butter until they are golden. Dry the potatoes and put them in
layers with
anschovy...(sprat) and onions in a greased bowl, which can stand being
put in the oven.
The first and last layers should be potatoes. Pour about a half cup
of cream (whipping
cream) or a little more over it and put it into the oven, 400-450
degrees (200-225C) for
45 minutes. Put some more cream into it, about the same amount, now and
then and
some of the salt sauce the sprat were in.
