slices white bread

cheddar cheese, shredded

mild Swiss cheese, shredded

milk

dry mustard

onion powder
1/4
tsp
salt

tsp
pepper

tsp
Worcestershire sauce
toppings (see **note)
Remove crusts from the bread and toast very lightly.
Butter a 7-1/2x12x2-inch glass baking dish.
Fit 6 slices of the bread in the dish, trimming if needed.
Sprinkle half of the two cheeses over the bread.
Top with the remaining 6 slices of bread.
Sprinkle with remaining cheeses.
Mix together the eggs, milk, mustard, onion powder, salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce until well blended.
Pour the milk mixture over the top of the bread and cheese layers. Let stand at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Bake at 350 degrees F. for 30 minutes.
Cover top with your choice of toppings (see **note).
Return to oven and bake for another 10 minutes.
Serve at once.
** Note: For toppings, use your choice of sliced onions, sliced mushrooms, salami, ham, or whatever you would like.
