Dried Cherry Sauce

butter or margarine
1/2
cup
brown sugar
1/3
cup
water
1/2
cup
dried cherries, cranberries or raisins
1
tablespoon
cold water
1
tablespoon
cornstarch
2
tablespoons
brandy
or
1/4
teaspoon
rum extract
In small saucepan, melt butter. Stir in brown sugar, water and cherries.
Cook and stir until bubbly. reduce heat. Simmer uncovered, for 5 minutes, or until fruit is plump and sugar is dissolved, stirring often.
Stir together cold water and cornstarch. Stir into fruit mixture. Soak and stir until thickened and bubbly.
Cook and stir for 1 minute more. Remove from heat. Stir in brandy.
Makes 1 1/4 cups.
