In our house, Christmas wasn't Christmas without this item.
1 | bag | Fresh cranberries, rinsed and picked over |
1/4 | C | Sugar |
1/2 | C | Orange juice |
1/3 | C | Orange liqueur |
1/2 | tsp | Ground allspice |
1/4 | tsp | Ground cloves |
1/4 | tsp | Ground ginger |
1 | tbsp | Shredded orange rind |
1/2 | C | toasted, coarsely chopped walnuts |
In medium size saucepan, combine first seven ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium low and simmer, stirring frequently, until cranberries have popped and the mixture has thickened slightly, about 10 minutes. Remove from the heat; set aside to cool. Stir in the orange rind and walnuts. Turn into a bowl and cover tightly. Refrigerate.
