To Die For Pecan Pie

1	9-1/2 inch	Deep dish pie shell, unbaked
1	8 oz. pkg.	Cream cheese, softened
1		Egg
1	tsp.	Vanilla
1/3	cup	Sugar
1/4	tsp.	Salt
3		Eggs
1/4	cup	Sugar
1	cup	Light corn syrup (Karo)
1	tsp.	Vanilla
1-1/4	cup	Chopped pecans
1	cup (8 oz.)	Dove dark chocolate candy bar, or chocolate chips (optional)

Preheat oven to 375º F. In small bowl, combine cream cheese, 1 egg, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1/3 cup sugar and salt. Mix by hand until only small lumps of cream cheese remain. Set aside.
In another small bowl, beat 3 eggs. Stir in 1/4 cup sugar and corn syrup and 1 tsp vanilla; blend well.
Fold in chopped Dove bar or chocolate chips.
Spread cream cheese mixture in the bottom of unbaked pie shell. Sprinkle with chopped pecans.
CAREFULLY pour corn syrup mixture over pecans.
Bake at 375º F for 35-45 minutes or until center is set.
Cover edge of pie crust with strip of foil to prevent excessive browning.
Cool completely. Store in refrigerator. Especially good with a dollop of whipped cream.
Serves 8-10.
Very rich.
