Original Aussie Pavlova

4 | | Egg whites |
1-1/2 | C | Castor sugar |
1 | tsp | Vinegar |
1 | tsp | Vanilla essence |
1 | dessertspoon | Cornflour |
- Beat whites until VERY stiff, then add half the sugar and beat again
(until stiff, of course). Add remaining sugar, vanilla, vinegar and
sifted cornflour. Beat until as stiff as possible.
- Spread on foil covered plate, in a dish-like shape and cook in
moderate oven for 15 minutes. Then in a slow oven for 45 minutes (until
the "Pav" is hardish to touch - like meringues.) Leave in oven until
completely cold.
- Fill with sliced strawberries and bananas and stiffly whipped cream.
- The top can be sprinkled with passionfruit pulp or chocolate
sprinkles.
