Grape Streusel Pie

My Finger Lakes Area of NYS is well known for its vineyards and wineries. but not all grapes get pressed for wine !! This is a seasonal favorite, served in local restaurants and found for sale on roadside stands.
The Grape Pie |
4-1/2 | cups | Concord grapes |
1 | cup | sugar |
1/4 | cup | flour |
1 | tbsp | lemon juice |
| | dash of salt |
1 | | 9-inch pie shell, unbaked |
- Wash grapes and remove skins. Reserve skins.
- Place pulp in saucepan and bring to a boil; cook until seeds separate out. Put through a food mill or sieve to remove seeds.
- Mix strained pulp with reserved skins.
- Stir in sugar, flour, lemon juice and salt.
- Put mixture into pastry lined pie plate.
Streusel Topping |
1/2 | cup | quick-cooking oats |
1/2 | cup | brown sugar |
1/4 | cup | flour |
4 | tbsp | butter |
- Mix oats, sugar and flour; cut in butter.
- Place on top of pie.
- Bake at 450°F. for 35-40 minutes
