How to cook Basmati Rice

*The rice may require slightly more or less water to cook.
If the rice is too soft or overcooked use less water
If rice is too hard or undercooked use more water in future cookings.
1 cup of Rice for 2 persons |
1/2 cups water* |
1 tbl. margarine, oil or butter |
Pinch of salt |
Easy way to cook:
- Rinse measured rice 2 to 3 times to remove extra starch and drain.
- Place the drained rice into the saucepan and add measured water, oil and salt
- Place saucepan uncovered over high heat and bring to boil. Stir occasionally.
- Let water reduce slightly below the rice level and then lower the heat.
- Place a tight lid on the saucepan and simmer for 10 min.
- Cooking by Electric Cooker -
Rinse measured rice 2 to 3 times to remove extra starch and drain.
Place the drained rice in the cooker
Add measured water, oil and salt.
Cover the cooker, turn it on and cook for 30 min.
