When the Pieper sisters, Ashley, 14, and Linnzie, 15, want to whip up a sweet treat, they use a simple recipe passed down for generations in their family. Chocolate Crunchies are crispy, creamy candy bites that are a snap to prepare. Explains Mom Vanessa of Bradford, Vermont, "My mother used to make these candies when I was young, using Grandmother's recipe. Now my daughters like to make them for Valentine's Day or anytime." "This wonderful recipe is best for older kids, though, since it requires measuring and using a double boiler." But with only four ingredients, it goes fast...and the results are delicious!"
2 | C (12 oz) | Semisweet chocolate chips |
2 | C (12 oz) | Butterscotch chips |
1/2 | tsp | Vanilla extract |
3 | C | Chow mein noodles |
In the top of a double boiler over simmering water, melt chips and vanilla; stir until smooth. Fold in noodles. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper. Cool.
Yield: 2-1/2 dozen.
