Comments: This is great served with chili or a nice homemade soup. Great for winter time.
1-1/2 | cups | all purpose flour |
2/3 | cup | yellow cornmeal |
2 | tsp. | baking powder |
1/2 | tsp. | salt |
1/2 | tsp. | baking soda |
2 | Tbsp. | brown sugar |
2/3 | cup | grated Parmesan Cheese |
1/2 | tsp. | crushed red pepper |
4 | tsp. | minced onion OR |
4 | tsp. | imitation bacon bits OR |
2 | tsp. | of each |
Stir together the flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda; place in an 18 ounce beer bottle or other jar. Place remaining ingredients on top of flour mixture, layering if bottle is clear. Makes 1 bottle.

Beer Bread
Makes 1 loaf (16 servings)
Place jar contents in a medium mixing bowl. Stir in one 12 ounce
can or bottle of beer just til combined. Pour into a greased
8x4x2 inch loaf pan. Bake in a 375 oven for 35 to 40 minutes
or till a toothpick inserted near center comes out clean.
Cover with foil during the last 10 minutes of baking if
necessary to prevent over-browning. Remove from oven and
brush with butter, if desired. Cool in pan for 10 minutes;
remove from pan. Serve warm or cool completely on a wire rack.
