Old South Sausage Spoon Bread

Tennessee Pride Country Sausage (mild, hot or sage), cooked, crumbled and drained

milk

white or yellow cornmeal
1/2
tsp
salt

tbsp
butter

tsp
sugar

Preaheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 2 quart baking dish.
Heat milk in saucepan and gradually stir in cornmeal. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally, and cook about 5 minutes.
Stir in salt, butter and sugar. Cool slightly.
Stir in cooked sausage and beaten egg yolks.
Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form in separate mixing bowl. Fold into cornmeal mixture.
Pour into prepared baking dish. Bake 45 minutes or until golden brown.
Makes 6 to 8 servings.
