Minnie's Breakfast Casserole

My Aunt Minnie used to make this easy casserole for holiday breakfasts when there were
a dozen or so relatives for breakfast. She would make at least four at a time.
8 | slices | whole wheat sandwich bread (white bread can also be used) |
8 | slices | ham |
8 | slices | American cheese (Velveta also works well) |
6 | large | eggs |
2 | cups | milk |
1/2 | stick | butter or margarine |
- Remove the crust from bread and place in bottom of 9 x 9 pan.
- Layer the ham slices over the bread, then add the cheese slices over the ham.
- Beat the eggs and add the milk, then pour over the mixture in the pan. Place in refrigerator
overnight. Next morning melt the butter and pour over the top of the casserole.
- Bake in a 325 degree oven for 45 minutes.
- Remove from oven and let set for l0 minutes before serving.
- Serves 4 to 5. Good with a bowl of any fresh fruit on the side.
