1 | C | Soft bread crumbs |
1 | C | Milk |
1 | tbsp | Butter or margarine |
1 | C | Grated American cheese |
1/2 | tsp | Salt |
| dash of | Cayene |
1/4 | tsp | Worcestershire sauce |
1 | | Egg, separated |
- Soak crumbs in milk for 10 or 15 minutes.
- Melt butter in a skillet or saucepan; add crumbs and milk, cheese, and seasonings; cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until cheese is melted.
- Stir in egg yolk and fold in beaten white; cook and stir 1 minute longer.
- Pour over toast or toasted English muffins and serve.
Serves 3 or 4
