Washington State Fair, 1996 (candy division)
3 3/4 | Cup | Powdered sugar, sifted |
3 | Cups | Coco flavored crispies rice cereal |
2 | Cups | Peanut butter, creamy |
1/2 | Cup | Butter |
1 | Pkg. (6 oz.) | Semi-sweet chocolate chips |
1 | 6 oz. | Chocolate candy coating, cut into pieces |
In a large bowl, combine powdered sugar and cereal. In a medium microwave safe bowl, combine peanut butter and butter. Microwave at medium heat until mixture is melted. (watch carefully). Stir after each 30 seconds. Pour peanut butter and butter mixture over cereal mixture and stir gently until well blened. Press in the bottom of a 9 x 13 inch cake pan. Combine chocolate chips and candy coating in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave on medium to high power 2-3 minutes or until mixture melts. Stir after each minute until smooth and creamy. Spread over peanut butter mixture in pan. Allow chocolate mixture to harden. Cut into 1 x 2 inch squares. Store in airtight container in a cool place. Makes 4 dozen candy bars.
