Spice and Almond Bars
From the Kitchen of: Boomer
2 | Cups | All-purpose flour |
1/8 | Tsp. | Salt |
1 | Cup | Butter or margarine |
1 | Cup | Brown sugar, packed |
1 | Egg | Yolk |
1 | Tsp. | Vanilla |
1 | Egg | White, slightly beaten |
1/4 | Cup | Sugar |
1/2 | Tsp. | Ground cinnamon |
1/2 | Cup | Sliced almonds |
Stir together the flour and salt. In a mixer bowl, beat butter on medium speed of electric mixer for 1/2 minute.
Add brown sugar and beat until fluffy. Add egg yolk and vanilla; beat well.
Add dry ingredients and beat until combined.
Pat dough evenly in an ungreased 15x10x1-inch shallow baking pan. Brush top of dough with the egg white.
Combine sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over dough. Sprinkle with sliced almonds.
Bake at 350° for about 15 minutes or until light brown. Cut into bars while warm.
YIELD: Approximately 48 bars
