I've used this recipe for over 30 years. Can't remember where I got it.
1 | C | Butter or Margarine |
3/4 | C | Sugar |
3 | Egg yolks | |
1/4 | tsp | Almond Extract |
2 1/2 | Tbs | Rum |
1/2 | tsp | Vanilla |
2 1/2 | C | Unsifted flour |
Cream butter and sugar until light. Beat in egg yolks, flavorings and rum. Gradually add flour, kneading in the last cup, if necessary. Shape into rolls about the size of a silver dollar, wrap in wax paper and store in refrigerator overnight. When ready to bake, cut in 1/4" slices and roll to form a ball. Roll balls in a mixture of 1/4 C Sugar and 1 1/4 Tbs Dried Orange Peel. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Store in an airtight container.
