As a girl, I could buy these big, thin, Cinnamon Suckers they sold on the side ofthe road (for some reason) in Albuquerque. Now, I can have a bit out of my childhood,so to speak. I'm now known as the "Candy Lady", for I love to make different flavorsand various colors. Other than Cinnamon Oil (using only 1 teaspoon - for it is SOstrong) - I make Peppermint, Spearmint and Cherry oil candy. Be sure to use 2 teaspoonswith any of the other oils. You will usually find these oils at your druggist's dept. orhe can order them for you. Also a good craft store where cookie cookware or cake decor is sold.
2 | C | Sugar |
1/2 | C | Water |
1/2 | C | Corn Syrup (white) |
1 | Tbsp. | Vinegar (acts as a hardner) |
1 | Tsp. | Cinnamon oil |
Red food coloring (few drops) |
Mix above together and cook on high to "hard crack" stage. Remove from stove. Meanwhilelightly grease the cookie sheet and have cinnamon oil and red food coloring ready.Put in a few drops of red food coloring and 1 teaspoon Cinnamon Oil. Stand back and stirvigorously. Fumes from oil always make my pets sneeze. When mixed well, pour thick liquidonto cookie sheet and let cool. When cool, pick up sheet and break into bite size pieces with tablespoon. Seal in tight jars or plastic snap lock closures to prevent moisture.
