1 | Small | Jar, jelly (plum or your preference) |

3 | Tbsp. (heaping) | Powdered sugar |
Cream the butter with the powdered sugar. Gradually add flour. Add vanilla and roll into balls. Place the balls on a cookie sheet and use your thumb to indent the top. Place a dab of jelly in the center of the thumbprint. Top with a nut (optional). Bake at 325° for about 15 minutes, until bottom and edges are browned. Makes about 3 dozen.
