Shortening (half butter)

Baking Powder

tsp.
Salt

citron or raisins or currents

Egg White, beaten slightly
Mix together first 4 ingredients.
Add dry ingredients
Chill dough
Roll into balls the size of walnuts
Dip tops in slightly beaten egg white, then sugar.
Place sugar side up 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake until delicately browned. The balls flatten some in baking and become glazed.
Bake 400 degrees for 12-15 minutes
