Chocolate Nutty Chews
From the Kitchen of: Pepper
1 1/2 | Cups | Sugar |
1/2 | Cup | Cocoa |
1/2 | Cup | Evaporated milk |
1/3 | Cup | Margarine |
1/3 | Cup | Peanut butter** |
1 1/2 | Cups | Dry quick-cooking oats |
1/2 | Cup | Pecans or walnuts, chopped |
1 | Tsp. | Vanilla |
- Combine sugar, cocoa, evaporated milk and margarine in a heavy saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constanly, until mixture reaches a slow boil (mixture will bubble around sides).
- Cook 2 additional minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; add peanut butter and stir until smooth.
- Stir in oats, pecans and vanilla. Drop mixture by tablespoonfuls onto waxed paper.
- Cool completely.
NOTE:** If using chunky peanut butter, you can omit the nuts.
