Blueberry Grunt
A Canadian Recipe

An old Nova Scotia recipe still very popular today.
1 | qt | Blueberries |
1/2 | C | Water |
1/2 | C | Sugar |
1 | tsp | Cinnamon |
2 | C | Flour |
1/2 | tsp | Salt |
2 | tsp | Baking powder |
1 | tsp | Sugar |
1 | tbsp | Butter |
2/3 | C | Milk |
- Boil blueberries, water and 1/2 cup sugar in a saucepan until there
is plenty of juice.
- Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, 1 teaspoon sugar and
cinnamon. Cut in 1 tablespoon butter. Add milk to make a soft dough,
like biscuit dough.
- Drop by spoonfuls into stewed blueberries.
- Cover and simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Serve hot with cream.
