White Mountain Frosting

1/2 | c | Sugar |
1/4 | c | Karo Syrup |
1/8 | tsp | Salt |
2 | tbsps | Water |
2 | | Egg Whites |
1/2 | tsp | Vanilla |
- Measure first 4 ingredients in a 1 quart saucepan. Place sugar
mixture over heat (brushing down sides with pasty brush). Boil fast until it spins a 4-6 inch thread (242 degrees)
- Put egg whites in 2 qt. bowl. Beat until soft peaks.
- When syrup is cooked pour about half over the whites. Beat frosting
hard until thick and fluffy. Add rest of syrup and continue beating hard.
