Nutmeg Coffee Cake

To sour milk - add 1 1/3 tablespoons vinegar to warm milk and let stand
a few minutes.
*Coconut, in place of nuts, may be used in the topping.
2 | C | Sifted flour |
2 | tsp | Baking powder |
1 | tsp | Baking soda |
1/2 | C | Granulated sugar |
1 | tsp | Nutmeg |
1/2 | tsp | Salt |
Sift | above | ingredients into bowl. |
- Mix 1/2 cup salad oil and 1 cup brown sugar. Mix into flour mixture
thoroughly. Measure out 1/2 cup of this mixute. Add 1/2 cup *chopped
nuts and reserve for topping.
- Combine and add 2 eggs slightly beaten and 1 cup sour milk to the
dry ingredients. Beat until well blended. Turn into well greased
shallow baking pan and sprinkle with topping mixutre.
- Bake 10 minutes at 400 degrees. Reduce heat to 375 degrees for 30
minutes.
