soft butter

light brown sugar

salt

evaporated milk

vanilla extract

confectioners' sugar, more or less
Combine butter, brown sugar, salt and evaporated milk in a large saucepan, stir over medium heat until butter is melted, the sugar is dissolved, and surface of mixture is covered w/ bubbles.
Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla extract
Beat in confectioners sugar, 1/2 c at a time, to make frosting spreadable.
Work quickly to fill and frost the cake, as this tends to harden and "sugar up" like pralines.
