COFFEE CAKE
From the Kitchen of: Pepper

1/2 | C | shortening
|
3/4 | C | sugar
|
1 | tsp. | vanilla
|
3 | | eggs
|
2 | C | flour
|
1 | tsp | baking powder
|
1 | tsp | baking soda
|
1/2 | pint | sour cream
|
6 | T | softened butter
|
1 | C | packed brown sugar
|
2 | tsp | cinnamon
|
1 | C | chopped nuts |
- Mix last four ingredients and set aside.
- Grease 10" tube pan, and line it with waxed
paper. Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla.
Add eggs, one at a time. Add flour, baking
powder and soda to mix, alternately with sour
cream.
- Spread half of batter in pan. Sprinkle
half of nut mix over it. Repeat.
- Bake at 350° about 50 minutes. Cool 10 minutes and
remove from pan.
