I call it my big cookie...for the top is crusty and crunchy and the center like a pound cake yet not dry and sweeter tasting.

Great by itself with coffee or favorite beverage or slice it and put butter on it and pop in the microwave for a few seconds, or let it be the bottom of a short cake...JUST A GREAT ALL AROUND CAKE, FREEZES AND CARRIES WELL.

Set oven at 325 degrees.

1 bread loaf or (meat loaf pan greased and floured lightly). A rectangle of about 4x 8 and 4" high.

Blend 2 sticks oleo with 2 cups granulated sugar. Add 2 teaspoons of vanilla.

2 cups flour (I never sift!)

5 whole eggs

To the blend ADD alternately the flour with the eggs. Pour in the pan. Bake for two hours at 325 degree oven.

(2 teaspoons of lemon juice substituted with 2 teaspoons poppy seeds for change of flavor instead of the vanilla). (Pecans can also be added to original recipe).
