COMMENTS: I found this recipe in mother's old recipe files. This was an old recipe that I had sent to her in 1957.

1/2	cup	shortening
1 1/2	cup	sugar
2	large	eggs
2	cups	cake flour
1/4	tea.	baking powder
3/4	tea.	baking soda
1/2	tea.	salt
1/4	cup	buttermilk
1	cup	mashed bananas (2 or 3)
1	tea.	vanilla

• With shortening at room temperature, cream shortening with sugar.
• Beat eggs until very fluffy and blend with shortening and sugar.
• Sift flour, salt, baking powder and soda and add to the other ingredients.
• Add mashed bananas, buttermilk, vanilla.
• Mix well and bake 30 to 35 min. in 2 greased layer tins at 300 degrees F.

  *Can also used angel food cake pan and bake approximately 1 hour.
