These are great snacking crackers
4 | C | whole wheat flour |
1 | tsp. | salt |
1 | tbsp. | sugar |
1/2 | C | shortening |
2/3 | C | water or milk |
Mix the dry ingredients then cut in the shortening until finely blended. Pour in the water and stir until batter forms into a soft ball, like pastry. Divide the dough into 4 parts. Roll each part as thin as possible. Slide the sheet of dough on an unbuttered cookie sheet. Whith a pastry wheel or knife, mark the dough into squares. Prick the dough all over with a fork. Bake 400F for about 10 minutes, or until crisp and pale brown. Cool and break the crackers where you have marked them.
