In small saucepan, combine sugar and water. Simmer about 1 minute or
until sugar is dissolved, stirring constantly. Pour grapefruit juice,
orange juice and grenadine into 2 quart non-metal container; mix in
sugar/water mixture.
Refrigerate. Just before serving, pour into punch
bowl; add ginger ale, pouring slowly down sides of bowl.
Serve over ice.
If desired, garnish with lemon peel and maraschino cherry.
