3 cups water |
2 cups sugar |
2 lg. handfuls tightly packed fresh mint |
juice of 6 lemons (about 1¼ cups) |
grated peel and juice of 2 oranges (about 1 cup) |
finely crushed ice |
soda water or ginger ale |
Boil water and sugar together 5 minutes; pour over crushed cut mint leaves and stems. Cover tightly and steep until completely cooled, one hour or longer. Add peel and juice. Fill tall glasses with finely crushed ice; add about 6 tbsp. mint syrup to each and fill with soda water or ginger ale.
Serve with straws.
