Known as 'The Garden City', Christchurch boasts a number of beautiful parks, Hagley Park being the best know. The Botanic Gardens, which include conservatories, rose and bulb beds, rock and water gardens, English lawns, woodland, and show houses displaying tropical, flowering plants, cacti, succulents, ferns, alpine plants, bromeliads and orchids, lie within the park in a loop of the Avon River. These gardens of Christchurch are fabulous, to say the least. We had an absolutely lovely time wandering through the more than 800 acres.
