Susan is a friend from a recipe chat. It's a clever cook who can turn bread into cookies but it is simple enough when you know how.

4	slices	Bread (1 inch thick)
1		Egg, beaten
1/4	C	Milk
1/2	tsp	Salt
1/2	tsp	Sugar
1	C	Nut meats, finely chopped

• Remove crusts from bread and cut each slice into strips 1 inch wide.
• Beat egg, add milk, salt, and sugar and dip bread in batter.
• Roll in nut meats and fry in hot deep fat (385 degrees) for 15 minutes.
• Serve with afternoon tea. Makes 1 dozen.
