Founded in 1867, Canterbury Museum is housed in one of New Zealand's finest historic buildings. It is known for having some of the finest cultural and natural collections in the country, including the recreation of a late 19th century Christchurch street. You'll find the history of the Maori, Canterbury's first people, and their descendants. The European settlers with their cultural and family history. The decorative arts and costume of Europe and Asia. The discovery and exploration of Antarctica. Fantastic geology and zoology exhibits.
